North Carolina singer, songwriter, and producer, sounds unmistakably like no one but herself.
In a voice one can only be born with, she brings to life her stories, characterized by her warm mezzo soprano range, dynamic musical phrasings and emotional certainty.
ABOUT MELISSA
Stretching her wings across genres and always coming back to roost within her own sound, Melissa is a multifaceted creative, writing within folk, Americana, blues, country and rock and informed by the stylings of artists like Joni Mitchell, Anne Lennox, Etta James and Eva Cassidy.
In 2010 Melissa Israel released her debut solo album Ghost of a Girl, a curated collection of original personal songs delivered in her haunting and ethereal voice. In 2025, starting with her first single, the romantic serenade Vinyl and Wine, Melissa will be releasing a string of singles culminating the release of her second album.
Melissa was raised writing songs and singing in school, jazz and church choirs. She considers herself a lifelong learner, having recently completing her Master's degree in Songwriting at the Berklee College of Music.
Currently living in the heart of North Carolina, a landscape rich with a diverse and thriving musical scene, she continues to hold onto the 200 year old Tennessee family farmstead. She is a curious adventurer, an astute observer and a chronicler of life in her music and stories.
